I’m a pretty big fan of the Coen Brothers 1998 film The Big Lebowski staring Jeff Bridges as the unassuming and unlikely hero The Dude (or el duderino if you aren’t into the whole brevity thing). It’s the story of one man’s quest to get his rug back and the trials and tribulations that befall him along the way. But really its much much more than that, to some, no… many people its a celebration of a life lived along the path of least resistance where white russians, long baths, and bowling are the things that matter most. The Lebowski Fest is a gathering of like minded folks getting together to recognize and appreciate the place The Dude and his easy going attitude have in our collective hearts, and its coming to San Francisco September 5th and 6th.

On May 3rd, 2008 tech geeks from all over Northern California gathered to celebrate tetrabites and giant robots. San Mateo hosted the third Annual Maker Faire, a place where every one from circuit board rewirers to Burning Man artists could put their differences aside and bond over all things DIY. So apparently, according to the SFist, there is supposed to be a big water balloon fight in Alamo Square Park in San Francisco tonight. It’s being organized by the Bring Your Own Water Balloon group.
