So apparently, according to the SFist, there is supposed to be a big water balloon fight in Alamo Square Park in San Francisco tonight.  It’s being organized by the Bring Your Own Water Balloon group.  WTF?!?  I mean I am all for a good time and all but a BYOWB fight? This does not need to happen in San Francisco thank you very much.

B2B was an amazing idea. BYOBW was a pretty cool idea.  The giant pillow fights are pushing it but was still a pretty clever idea.  A water balloon fight in Alamo Square??? Stupid. San Francisco does not need any more events like these.  Don’t people have better things to do than run around one of the more picturesque spots in the city throwing water balloons at strangers?

Who’s going to clean up the mess? Not the group organizing it I’m sure.  Why should they have to worry about things like cleaning up thousands of busted balloon bits scattered through out a public park??? Isn’t San Francisco just one big playground for 20-30 somethings come to get their kicks in and then move away once they are ready to settle down anyway?

Sorry to be a grouch but I really wish this weren’t happening and that the tools thinking up the the next “event” like this would just stop right now.  San Francisco is full of amazing things to do that are both creative and constructive, are we really that bored and mindless that we need to regress back to participating in activities that are aimed at entertaining 10 year olds?
