In the great hierarchy of culture the top tier is obvious. There is little dispute that The Beatles are a great band, Psycho a great film and Da Vinci a great artist. The second level requires a perhaps a bit more digging. Not every person you see on the street would recognize the merits of The Ramones, Taxi Driver, and Robert Williams. However there are vast groups of people that are well aware that the Ramones are as important as the Beatles and so on. The top two shelves offer great art but it is rarely ever a challenge to find something that you will enjoy. While we here at Trash Cookies are all fans of every level of culture we have chosen to focus our lenses on the bottom shelves.
There was once a time when an individual who was looking for something great well outside the norm they had to spend vast amounts of time and energy seeking it out. We, however live in a brave new world. The proliferation of the internet has made it easier than ever to seek out B to Z grade entertainment. We here at Trash Cookies have wasted many hours of our lives and uncountable amounts of money in the search for that lost or over looked gem that we have yet to lay our eyes on. In a bold attempt to make ourselves feel a little better in regard to the time and money that we will never get back we have chosen to share some of the gold that we have found in the trash. Maybe you will find an album that you have never heard or a film that you have never seen. Or maybe you will go out and by a dvd based on our suggestions and you will be writing us to try and get your two hours back… I’ll tell you this from personal experience… You can’t get it back, you can never get it back.
